where the ordinary and the extraordinary meet

Me and My Shadow
#MondayMemories, #Self-Discovery

Following the passing of a dear friend at the beginning of 2018, and the arrival of a shipment transporting my worldly belongs from Arizona to Chiang Mai, I embarked on a major clean-up of possessions of no great value other than the memories associated with them. Me and My Shadow describes the feelings this process triggered
Hung my shadow
out to dry,
me and my shadow,
my shadow and I.
Washed it all clean,
revealed to the sky
sins of the past
from days gone by.
The light of the sun
will purify
whatever I’ve hidden
and wish to deny.
Forgiveness is grace,
no need to be sly.
The dark half of myself
is mine till I die.
It belongs to the earth,
teaches me why
it's important to honor
both the low and the high.
Now we set off again,
my shadow all spry,
me and my shadow,
my shadow and I.
